The Malaysia–China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) ceremoniously hosted the “Inauguration Ceremony of the National Council Committee, Young Entrepreneurs Committee, and Women Entrepreneurs Committee” on 30 October, marking a significant milestone—the Chamber’s 35th anniversary. YB Anthony Loke, Minister of Transport, attended as the Guest of Honour, while the Minister-Counsellor from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, His Excellency Zheng Xuefang  was also present. Representatives from business associations and leaders from the corporate sector joined the celebration.

The ceremony not only showcased MCCC’s accomplishments in strengthening Malaysia–China economic and trade cooperation over the past 35 years, but also signified the Chamber’s new beginning toward a fresh phase and broader development trajectory.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke: Continuing to Serve as a Vital Bridge for Malaysia–China Economic and Trade Cooperation

In his address at the inauguration ceremony and 35th anniversary celebration of MCCC, Transport Minister Anthony Loke highlighted that the Chamber has played a key bridging role in Malaysia–China economic and trade collaboration over the past 35 years. It has provided an essential platform for business missions, industry matchmaking, and information sharing, while facilitating communication between the government and the private sector.

He noted that in the first four months of this year, bilateral trade between Malaysia and China reached RM161.9 billion, with China remaining Malaysia’s largest trading partner for many consecutive years which demonstrating the strong foundation and huge potential of bilateral cooperation.

He emphasized that as global supply chains undergo restructuring and trade barriers rise, businesses must accelerate diversification and actively seize new opportunities brought by the upgrading of the China–ASEAN Free Trade Area and the emerging tripartite economic cooperation among ASEAN, China, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The combined economic scale of the three regions exceeds USD 25 trillion, covering 2 billion people, and will enhance the regional strategic value of Malaysia–China economic cooperation.

He also expressed hopes that the Young Entrepreneurs Committee and the Women Entrepreneurs Committee would continue providing training and international platforms for young and women entrepreneurs, nurturing the next generation of business leaders.

Minister-Counsellor of China: Malaysia–China Relations Are Advancing Toward a “Golden 50 Years” With Tremendous Cooperation Potential

Minister-Counsellor from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, His Excellency Zheng Xuefang remarked in his speech that Malaysia–China relations are currently at their best in history, with both countries jointly entering a new “Golden 50 Years.” He stated that with the successful signing of the Protocol for Upgrading the China–ASEAN Free Trade Area Version 3.0 in Kuala Lumpur, regional cooperation will reach higher levels of integration, bringing more opportunities and stability to enterprises from both countries.

He highlighted that:

  • China and ASEAN have remained each other’s largest trading partners for many years
  • RCEP continues to generate substantial benefits
  • Digital economy, green economy, and industrial chain collaboration will serve as new engines for future growth

Zheng also commended Malaysia’s strong leadership as ASEAN Chair in 2025 and affirmed China’s willingness to deepen strategic cooperation with Malaysia, enhance high-level exchanges, and expand practical collaboration in economic, technological, and cultural fields.

MCCC President Loo Kok Seong: Positioning ASEAN as a New Strategic Focus to Build a More Open and Influential Chamber Platform

MCCC President Loo Kok Seong stated that the Chamber will strengthen alignment with national policies and facilitate deeper entry of Malaysian enterprises into regional markets. He outlined three strategic directions for ASEAN engagement:

  • Indonesia: Large population and rapid economic growth
  • Thailand: Mature manufacturing and tourism sectors
  • Cambodia: Strong potential as an emerging market

President Loo emphasized that the Chamber will extend its focus from bilateral cooperation to regional collaboration, bringing Malaysian enterprises onto a broader stage. He stressed that chambers of commerce should not compete, but rather complement one another, integrating resources to enhance the impact of economic forums, networking programs, and youth and women entrepreneurship initiatives.

He conveyed his appreciation to all partner chambers and organizations including the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce, Malaysia-China Business Council, ACCCIM, FMM, and Malaysia–China Friendship Association and called for continued collaboration to further advance Malaysia–China economic relations.

Chairman of the Young Entrepreneurs Committee, Loo Chuan Boon: Embracing Future Industrial Trends Through “Three Priorities and Three Strategic Windows”

Newly appointed Chairman of the Young Entrepreneurs Committee, Loo Chuan Boon, emphasized that the committee will continue serving as a bridge connecting young entrepreneurs and industries from Malaysia and China. He outlined a core framework for future direction:

Three Priorities:

  • Priority on Open Cooperation: Linking Malaysia’s diverse strengths with China’s vast market
  • Priority on Technological Innovation: Focusing on AI, automation, advanced manufacturing, and cross-border e-commerce
  • Priority on Green Transition: Engaging in new energy, energy storage, carbon management, and ESG-related industries

Three Strategic Windows:

  • Regional Integration Window: Opportunities arising from RCEP and the Belt and Road Initiative
  • Digital Trade and AI Window: Enabling enterprises to respond globally with agility
  • Green Transition Window: Turning Sustainability into Corporate Growth

He said:
“Let us become the light that illuminates one another, turning Malaysia–China friendship into tangible projects, and empowering youth to become the new driving force of regional development.”

Chairperson of the Women Entrepreneurs Committee, Jamie Tiew: Elevating Malaysia–China

Women Entrepreneurs as a Model for Asia and a Force on the Global Stage

Newly appointed Chairperson Jamie Tiew stated that in the next three years, the Women Entrepreneurs Committee will strengthen development under the core principles of “unity, empowerment, and co-creation,” advancing through three key directions:

  • Brand Co-Creation: Building “dual branding strength” to elevate the Chamber’s and members’ influence
  • Deepening Malaysia–China and Regional Cooperation: Connecting resources across China, ASEAN, and the Belt and Road
  • Strengthening Women’s Power: Enhancing women’s roles in economic progress and social innovation

She expressed her gratitude to outgoing Chairperson Dato Dr. Angie for laying a strong foundation, and affirmed her commitment to ensuring that “women’s leadership” continues to play a vital role in regional economic advancement.

For 35 years, MCCC has been deeply involved in fostering economic, trade, social, and cultural exchanges between Malaysia and China. The Chamber’s growth mirrors the continuous deepening of bilateral relations. Looking forward, MCCC will continue to:

  • Strengthen collaboration with governments, chambers, and international institutions
  • Support Malaysian and Chinese enterprises in jointly expanding into ASEAN markets
  • Build cross-industry, cross-regional, and cross-generational cooperation platforms

The successful inauguration of the three committees marks a new stage for Malaysia–China economic cooperation in this new era, while providing young and women entrepreneurs with greater opportunities and a wider stage.
