Kuala Lumpur: The first Malaysia International Inno-Tech Expo (MIIE) jointly organized by the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) and C Event Organiser Sdn Bhd which will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center from 23-25 November is to welcome the arrival of the fourth industrial revolution and the era of digitalization of the economy and traditional industries. It has now entered the critical countdown period of 8 months.

According to the Chairman of the First MIIE Organising Committee, Ting Young Kang, this three-day expo is expected to achieve a sales target of RM150 million.

“We successfully attracted keywa.com, which agreed to be our main exhibitor. The company aims at setting up a procurement center in ASEAN and the region to look for resources. Its potential should not be overlooked,” Ting said.

Ting Young Kang added that the first MIIE is setting up 250 standard booths. It is expected that 40% of the exhibitors will be overseas enterprises. The regions will cover China, Japan and Arab countries such as Dubai.

“With eSports as one of the main industries to attract the youth, we believe that the first MIIE will attract at least 15,000 visitors,” Ting added.

The MCCC President, Tan Yew Sing, mentioned that the first MIIE which will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center from 23-25 November encourages the birth of local, China, Asia and regional startup companies to jointly explore new opportunities.

Tan Yew Sing forecast that China has moved from the stereotypical “World’s Factory” and “Made in China” to “China’s Intellectual Creation” and “Created in China”. This means that this ancient civilization will lead the world into another new era of “innovation and technology”, with its immense new knowledge-based talents and the scientific and technological foundation that has been rapidly established over the years. I would like to urge all Malaysian entrepreneurs not to miss this opportunity!

Witnessing the first MIIE, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Datuk Isham Ishak stated that MITI will fully support related activities in order to complement the government’s policy of promoting economic and trade relations between Malaysia and China.

“Malaysia and China have established trust based on long standing economic and trade relations. Next, we will assist local SMEs to embrace the Industry 4.0 revolution. We need the technological support and assistance from China to create more global brands from Malaysia,” Datuk Isham added.

The Deputy Director of the Guangdong Electronic Commerce Association (GDECA), Cheng Xiao, said that he would bring delegation from all parts of China to actively participate in the first MIIE.

“Malaysia has good resource so we also hope to discuss holding an e-commerce summit during the first MIIE to achieve greater results,” Cheng added.

Apart from setting up 250 standard booths, the first MIIE event group is planning more interactive platforms, such as workshops, seminars, workshops, small display areas, and business matching to bring value-added benefits to exhibitors and visitors.

The first MIIE, a rare domestic incubator and large platform, is expected to attract potential start-ups and venture capitalists. Finding like-minded financing targets for start-ups, this will lead to pioneering, innovative and creative innovations or entrepreneurial activities.

Apart from aiming to grow together with startup companies and jointly creating business opportunities, the first MIIE also established several sub-themes. These include E-Commerce, Smart Farming, Industry 4.0, eSports, and Blockchain.

With the development of Alibaba’s Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ) located in Aeropolis, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), domestic e-commerce has become the focus of region and the world.

At present, the first MIIE has confirmed the attendance of China’s largest electronic trading platform for chemical products, keywa.com. According to statistics, keywa.com had RMB26 billion online transactions last year. Through the cooperation with the Guangdong Electronic Commerce Association (GDECA) and friendly associations in various parts of China, the first MIIE Recruitment Team is confident that there will be more e-commerce entrepreneurs from China and Asia.

With Malaysia’s abundant resources in agriculture, mining, fishery, and forestry, the first MIIE hopes to inject more smart farming and bring cross-century projects of the new technology revolution to local agriculture. Intelligent agriculture emphasizes precision, mainly using modern information technology for cultivation, so as to achieve the purpose of resource integration and optimization of investment returns. Malaysia’s unique climate has produced unique agricultural, mining, fishery and forestry harvest. The development of intelligent agricultural technology will not only help young people to re-invent the industries, but also create more new industries, such as wireless sensors, information-based intelligent monitoring systems, and Internet of Things technologies.

In line with the pace of development of the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), which is leading and coordinating the National Industry 4.0 policy, the first MIIE aims to increase the level of intelligence and awareness in the domestic manufacturing industry. The first MIIE will assist domestic and foreign SMEs to seize the opportunity to keep up with the trend and advance to intelligence in order to adapt to the future of international competition. As a newly industrialized country, the Big Data computing, artificial intelligence applications and the intelligent production mode proposed by the National Industry 4.0 are the main focus in the first session of MIIE. The first MIIE aims at attracting 3D printing, unmanned vehicles, virtual reality (VR), AlphaGo and the financial technology (FinTech) industry that the global financial companies are actively deploying.

The population of ASEAN reaches 620 million, and two-thirds of the population is below 35 years old. As the ASEAN economy gradually takes off, young people are brave enough to try new things and are happy to spend.

The Global Esports Market Report in 2017 pointed out that the global eSports market revenue reached USD700 million.

The first session of the MIIE realize the opportunity to invest in the use of electronic games to compete in sports—eSports—through the young ASEAN population.

Esports mainly aims at the electronic game competition to achieve the competitive level. Esports uses electronic devices (such as computers, game consoles, and arcades) as sports equipment, and operation emphasizes the intelligence and reaction between people.

Bitcoin, the hotly traded internet trading currency in recent years, kicked off the revolution in data blockchain for financial services. The first MIIE hopes to promote the interaction of multiple data blockchains with local financial services and manufacturing industries.

Data blockchain is essentially a decentralized database. It is a new application mode of computer technology such as distributed data storage, point-to-point transmission, consensus mechanism, and encryption algorithms.

In any case, the market is looking forward to the data blockchain technology. It is known to be able to transform the economics with new technologies such as big data, mobile internet, and cloud computing and has potential to trigger the core technology of the fifth industrial revolution after the steam engine, electricity, information and internet technologies.

The first session of MIIE is currently offering 250 standard booths for entrepreneurs who are interested in participating in this expo.
