The 13th Term National Council
\nLoo Kok Seong elected as MCCC President<\/b><\/p>\n
(Kuala Lumpur) The 13th Term (2022-2025) National Council of the Malaysian-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) held successfully, Mr Loo Kok Seong becoming the new President without a contest.<\/p>\n
Mr Ngan Teng Ye was also elected as Deputy President of MCCC; the seven Vice-Presidents were Mr Kerk Loong Sing, Mr Kevin Siah, Dato\u2019 Bong Siak Kee, Dato\u2019 Joseph Lim, Thay Peng Hong, Dato\u2019 See Meng Geok and Dato\u2019 Jeffrey Ng.<\/p>\n
The election of the MCCC 13th Term National Council was held on Saturday (25th June 2022) and was presided over by the Election Committee Chairman Mr. Ng Lip Yong, in the presence of Election Committee member Mr. Sung Siew Thong and Immediate Past President Datuk Tan Yew Sing.<\/p>\n
The term of 13th National Council runs from 2022 to 2025, the Council consists of 35 elected National Council members, 10 Presidents of State Branches, the Chairman of the Young Entrepreneurs Committee and the Chairperson of the Women Entrepreneurs Committee.<\/p>\n
Mr. Loo Kok Seong delivered a speech after being elected, he thanked Datuk Tan Yew Sing for his contribution and guidance over the past six years that enabled the MCCC to reach new milestones.<\/p>\n
“Under Datuk Tan Yew Sing’s leadership, we have been able to harness our diversities and recruit more multiracial members to join the National Council. The new National Council will continue to maintain its multi-racial quality and work together to promote Malaysia-China relations and economic and trade development”<\/p>\n
He emphasized that with a total of 20 new members, the current National Council is truly in line with the MCCC’s objective of bringing in new blood and grooming successors.<\/p>\n
On behalf of the new National Council, he also thank the three outgoing Vice Presidents, Mr. Tan Kee Hock, Mr. Lee Chee Hian and Datuk Lau Kok Sing for their years of services, their contributions in grooming new Vice Presidents and for making way for incoming new talents.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the same time, I also want to thank outgoing Secretary-General, Raymond Tan for his leadership in planning, coordinating and executing the activities of the association and the functioning of the secretariat office. \u201d<\/p>\n
He said that the priority of 13th National Council is to identify new opportunities for our members and to revitalise our cooperation with China.<\/p>\n
The five main priorities of the new National Council for the next three years are as follow:<\/p>\n
(1) CHINA-ASEAN PRODUCT EXHIBITION<\/b><\/p>\n
To capitalise on the new business opportunities arising from the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), the MCCC will be organising a China-ASEAN Products Exhibition, to be held in Malaysia to expand the market for our members.<\/p>\n
(2) CIRCULATION OF INFORMATION<\/b><\/p>\n
MCCC will be working closely with governmental agencies such as MATRADE and MIDA. As such, we will be in possession of valuable economic, trade and investment information that will be highly beneficial to our members. It is our duty to ensure that this information is passed on to members in a timely and effective manner so they do not miss out on business opportunities.<\/p>\n
(3) A PLATFORM FOR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES<\/b><\/p>\n
In anticipation of China increasing its investments in Malaysia, it would be highly convenient to have a one-stop \u2018marketplace\u2019 to match Chinese investors with Malaysian goods and services provider. The MCCC will be building this platform for a win-win situation for both investors and our members.<\/p>\n
(4) TRANSITIONING INTO THE DIGITAL ECONOMY<\/b><\/p>\n
No doubt about it, the digital economy is the way forward. Those who resist will get left behind. MCCC will actively help members to enter the digital economy by organising relevant seminars to equip them with the knowledge and opportunities they will need. This includes e-commerce, Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, etc.<\/p>\n
And lastly,<\/p>\n
(5) BUSINESS DELEGATIONS<\/b><\/p>\n
Each year, MCCC targets to hold at least two business delegations to China. The purpose of these trips is to promote a working relationship and to explore possibilities for trade and investment opportunities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith these 5 key plans in place, and a harmonious working relationship within the team, the new National Council is optimistic that our members will benefit from better opportunities to attain greater heights.\u201d<\/p>\n
