Innovation in Science and Technology Drives Economic Development<\/strong><\/div>\n

February 12, 2018<\/p>\n

The year of the Rooster has been good. I believe the year of the Dog will be better.<\/p>\n

Last year, some domestic economic sectors showed a trend of recovery. If we want this trend to continue, our country must promote the development of traditional industries through innovation in science and technology.<\/p>\n

According to a survey, Malaysia is the sixth most potential country among the 67 countries along the Belt and Road Initiative after Singapore, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE), New Zealand and China.<\/p>\n

Malaysia occupies a strategic position in the Belt and Road Economic Corridor, it has always benefited from this ambitious initiative.<\/p>\n

Looking at the prospects of economic and trade development between Malaysia and China, talent is pivotal and an indestructible capital.<\/p>\n

According to the latest World Talent Ranking by Swiss business school International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Malaysia has slipped from 19th place to 28th place in its ability to attract\u00a0talent in 2017.<\/p>\n

However, in view of the improved economic situation and the continuous investment in public education, it is expected that this year our country will be able to achieve better ranking in the IMD World Talent Ranking to retain its local talents and attract foreign talents.<\/p>\n

It is true that talent is fundamental for a country’s development. It is imperative for our country to create a healthy and sustainable environment for talents both at home and abroad.<\/p>\n

With the rapid development of science and technology in China, an advanced and complete industrial system has been established. Malaysian enterprises should focus on acquiring this system, including the modernisation of agriculture and aquaculture industries.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Malaysian enterprises should start discussing China\u2019s emerging technologies such as mobile payment, artificial intelligence (AI), e-commerce, hi-tech and Internet Plus, and bring about opportunities for the major industries in our country and enterprises in East Asia.<\/p>\n

The Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) will keep moving towards the goal of transforming itself into a thriving Chamber of Commerce. MCCC will try to cultivate more young and new entrepreneurs to expand into new industries.<\/p>\n
