KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) will submit the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) report to the Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) within one to two weeks.

The President of MCCC, Tan Yew Sing, disclosed that the meeting today was only a verbal report on the ECRL project.

“We are urged to express our opinions and submit a report on the ECRL and Chinese investment,” Tan said this after meeting the former Finance Minister, Tun Daim Zainuddin, today.

When asked about Malaysia-China relations and foreign investment, Tan stressed that Malaysia should welcome foreign capital that is conducive to the country’s economic development to invest in Malaysia. At the same time, it should pay attention to the importance of Chinese capital and identify foreign capital that is beneficial to Malaysia.

Last week, there were rumours that foreign investors have lost confidence in the Malaysian economy. According to his observations, under the new government’s policy, he is confident that foreign investors will return.
