Johor: Cheou Siah Liang, President of the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce’s (MCCC) Johor branch, pointed out that the branch had expectations on the new government in bringing more business opportunities to Malaysia and expanding the Malaysia-China trade relationship.

Cheou said that the coalition government expressed its desire to review China-funded co-operation before the election, but he was not worried.

“Reviewing China-funded co-operation projects will not have a negative impact on the companies of China. I have not received any news about Chinese investors taking a step back. Conversely, when China’s economy continues to develop, Chinese enterprises are more willing to come to Malaysia for investment,” Cheou stated this in the press conference yesterday.

Cheou mentioned that the branch has contacted the representatives of the new government of the State of Johor. He hopes that the new government will continue to co-operate closely with the companies of China after it has taken over.

Cheou believes that as long as the new government promotes the open policy that is more in line with the international market, it will enable the local government to further expand the Malaysia-China trade relationship.

November Expo and Conference

In addition, Loo Kok Seong, the First Vice President of MCCC, also explained to the members that the first Malaysia International Inno-Tech Expo (MIIE) will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center from 23-25 November and the 8th Malaysia-China Entrepreneur Conference (MCEC 2018) will be held in Nanjing, China on 19 September.
