KUALA LUMPUR: The 11th Malaysia-China Entrepreneurs Conference and the 2nd Malaysia-China Young Entrepreneurs Conference (MCEC and MCYEC 2021) organised by Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce in both online and offline hybrid format, surpassed 230,000 views on Nov 21, which has break the last ten years record.

The theme of this year’s MCEC cum MCYEC is “Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Key Prospect and Challenge”. To comply with the Covid-19 standard operation procedures, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is limited to invited guests and the participants around the world joined from 20 live stream platforms, which have reached 230,000 views.

The President of MCCC, Datuk Tan Yew Sing said MCCC believes that the effective implementation of RCEP will not only effectively boost the confidence of all parties in economic growth and improve the level of regional integration in East Asia, but also effectively promote the integration of regional industrial chain, supply chain and value chain.

“In addition, coupled with the development trend of the Belt and Road Initiative, economic and trade cooperation between Malaysia and China will become closer, and more conducive to achieving mutual benefiting and win-win results, and in turn, make greater contributions to the common development and prosperity of the region.”

Tan emphasised Malaysia and China share a long-standing friendly relation and highly complementary with each other development needs. With the joint efforts of Malaysia and China overcoming Covid-19, we will usher in a new development with mutual benefiting and pragmatic cooperation and continuous promotion of economic and trade exchanges between the two countries. He delivered his opening remark in the opening ceremony of MCEC and MCYEC 2021.

H.E. Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia has been invited as guest of honour. He pointed out the bilateral trade volume between China and Malaysia and China’s non-financial investment in Malaysia continued to maintain rapid growth.

“According to Chinese statistics, from January to September this year, it increased by 33.8% and 63.6% respectively. China has been the largest trading partner of Malaysia for 12 consecutive years and the largest source of foreign investment in Malaysia’s manufacturing industry for 5 consecutive years and the largest source of foreign investment in Malaysia’s manufacturing industry for 5 consecutive years.”

“The signing of RCEP provides new impetus for the economic development of the Asia Pacific region, giving birth to new fields, new models, and new business forms of cooperation between China and Malaysia, and plays an extremely important role in enhancing the economic recovery after the pandemic and promoting long-term prosperity and growth.” Ouyang said.

The Chief Minister of Selangor, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Bin Shari was invited to present the opening speech, he told that the conference with RCEP theme is just in time as we are in the post-pandemic period and actively boosting the recovery in economic. It is well advised that all enterprises should make the necessary preparations to welcome the RCEP market which covers 2.2 billion people and $26.2 trillion of global output.

“China is also very important to the state of Selangor when we talk about foreign direct investment. Since 2015, China remained as one of the top investment countries into Selangor in the approved manufacturing sector, amounting to more than RM6 billion.”

“Selangor is also the most developed state in Malaysia and has contributed 24.3% to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2020. A large number of businesses and manufactures are based in Selangor and there is a huge potential and room for improvement in the Selangor-China relations.” Amirudin said.

The Vice President of MCCC, Ngan Teng Ye mentioned Covid pandemic has been with us for nearly two years now, it is an understatement to say that these have not been two easy years for the most of us, from individuals to businesses to government.

“RCEP is the world’s largest Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with a market covering almost one-third of the world’s population or 2.2 billion people. The 15 countries within the RCEP alone are generating almost 30% of the global GDP. We are honored to have 4 distinguished guests delivering keynote speeches and special remark, giving our conference participants a clear picture of RCEP framework.”

“With the help of the power of the digitalization, more than 15 speakers from local and overseas were invited to present their speech in both morning and afternoon sessions. We gratefully acknowledge insightful discussions with all of the speaker’s sharing.” Ngan delivered his closing remark during closing ceremony in MCEC and MCYEC 2021.
